Hello! Welcome to my post about why I’m choosing to go on the World Race this year.
If i’m honest, it a lot of ways I am underqualified to go on this race. I do not have a amazing attendance track record in church and there are times I have fallen short to the standards God has wanted in my life. I have never done this before, so I don’t have any experience and I don’t really know anyone personally who has either. I never planned to do this since I was young, and I definitely did not expect to embark on an 11-month journey where I would travel to 6 different countries as a missionary. But I just know deep down in my heart, mind and spirit this is the path God wants me to travel along. My heart has a deep hunger to help people who really need it. I believe God is calling me to do this trip and I’m excited and know this will push me way outside my comfort zone. I have deep desire to honour God and help people through this type of ministry!
I am doing this world race to:
– Grow even deeper in my relationship with God
– Inspire people and make an impact/difference beyond myself
– Use my spiritual gifts for good
– Run the race as an authentic follower of Christ
– Be in obedience and service to God – Ignite the Light: To be a Christian Ambassador on Earth by evangelizing the gospel message striving to lead people to salvation through Jesus Christ into God’s Kingdom.
– Live in a community with people who believe what I do
It is by God’s grace that I am given the opportunity to do something like this!
I want to make my life count and I thought what better way than serving him on a journey that takes me beyond myself.
The passage that comes to mind and really speaks to me leading into the race is in Luke 14:25-33.
The Cost of Being a Disciple
25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
I’m really excited to start training camp and see how God will use me this year!
thank-you for stopping by!
David 🙂
